Journal Communications Seeks Impunity for Walker & Crimes Behind His Ascent to Power

The Wisconsin media echo-chamber continues to spin hard for Scott Walker the Badger State's largest newspaper, entirely a pro-Walker operation, took its position at the front of the line yesterday with shameless propaganda in its headlines announcing convicted Walker associate Darlene Wink's sentencing.  This is the same paper that has announced they will largely drop editorials, evidently their constant support for Walker creates too much of a cognitive dissonance with what gets presented as fact-based news in the rest of the paper.

The process of impunity, exemption Scott Walker from punishment or loss or escape from fines for the crimes that underlie his ascent to power and for which only he benefited from, demands:

• Media complicity
• Begin by blaming the criminality on a few

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is doing what it can to help Walker.  The 5-step process, outlined by Alfred McCoy, follows after the jump.


Using the lie of objective journalism which misrepresents "balance" as being more important than facts or a quest for truth, undermines our democracy and MJS are experts at it.  Journal Communications operates WTMJ-AM which is unabashedly 24/7 republican and Scott Walker promotion.  Their paper MJS is actually no different except in the degree of subtlety.

Yesterday, MJS had the first online report on Darlene Wink's sentencing, trumpeting to the world:

Ex-aide apologizes to governor during sentencing for county crimes

This is entirely misleading and, as usual with all things Walkergate, Capper at Cog Diz has a good take on the situation.  What is she apologizing for?  The crimes that she did in collusion with others, appreantly with co-conspirators?  The fact that she got caught?  Is she trying to create the illusion that Walker, dispute evidence to the contrary, is somehow ignorant of all and blameless?

There's no need to repeat his interesting analysis, but we'd like add this:  The process of getting away with the crimes behind Scott Walker's ascent to "rock star" status demand (more detailed outline HERE):

1. Blame a few bad apples -- in this case Russell, Rindfleisch, and Wink.
2. Claim that a crisis demands action -- Walker has clearly manufactured an economic crisis which he is exploiting to launch a radical extremist agenda, but he is also using it to deflect and distract from Walkergate.
3. Call for unity -- the crisis, in this case, Scott Walker's massive economic failure, demands that we rally around the manufactured crisis together.
4. Dire and extreme circumstances requires us to "move forward".  Anyone that want's to "look back" is being divisive because the crisis requires unity and moving "forward."
5. Re-write history, sealing the lie that even if there was some criminality, it is not important because our "great leader" moved us forward.

Wisconsin's media echo-chamber has already implemented this process.  We are told that, despite the fact the judge hearing evidence in the ongoing "John Doe" investigation have announced the investigation is open, that Scott Walker "hopes" it is over.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's "ace" investigative reporter has even proclaimed the probe "dead as a doornail".  This is a lie.

The media is doing what it can to prepare the public to accept Walker's impunity.  Each and ever story being released NEVER points out that Scott Walker alone directly benefited from the crimes for which people are pleading guilty.  Virtually every story ends with the tag line:  "Walker has not been charged with wrongdoing."

Did Wink "apologize"?  Not really -- by all reports, she is a die-hard Walker loyalist -- described by some as a Walker "cultist".  She is quoted as crying when addressing the judge and offering this apologizing to:

"the taxpayers, my former boss and my friends and family." 

MJS's report may be construed as indicating that Wink is apologizing for doing something wrong that Walker and his top aides could not have known about.  However, she may be apologizing for getting caught and being a person that blew the cover.  The rest of the media is not using the headline that the apology was "to governor" -- it clearly wasn't.

The apology was to the judge and she did say she felt some type of remorse -- MJS, a pro-Walker mouthpiece, is using the situation to proclaim it is an apology for tarnishing Gov. Walker.

Walker is the sole beneficiary of the criminality behind his ascent to power.  Walker has not cooperated  with any investigations at all.  Media proclamations that he has are lies.  Media proclamations that there are "scant records" indicating Walker or others will be indicted are also wrong.  There are thousands of emails -- most not released, but one is a "smoking gun" (short video) that Walker knew the situation in early 2010.

The media consistently also never states that, to date, 13 people have been granted immunity -- this is only used as a tool to gather information from co-conspirators.  Each of those people can be directly or indirectly tied to crimes.  The prosecutor is using those people to obtain evidence on others.  If there were not co-conspirators, there would be no immunity deals.

The DA's office has issued some evidence, statements, and even a 78-slide PowerPoint that provides much MORE than "scant evidence" that there are more indictments on the way.  The FBI participated in a search and seizure of an as-of-yet indicted co-conspirator -- the feds would only get involved if there was a federal investigation.  A federal corruption probe appears to be expanding.

The media is lying to you -- there is more here -- these crimes are serious, because they created our "divide and conquer" governor.  The situation demands justice -- but don't expect the media to help.
