The latest report on private-sector job creation ranks Wisconsin 42 out of 50 states in private-sector job creation -- among the worst in the Nation. Sadly, the latest government jobs data is widely-accepted as the most accurate assessment by economists. The Badger State continues a massive job failure under Scott Walker's failed economic agenda.
But because republicans control all branches of government, despite the uncontested fact that democratic candidates for the state Assembly received 200,000 more votes statewide than their republican counterparts in that election. Gerrymandering has been the difference, not the will of the people. There are also recurring vote tabulating anomalies, always favoring republicans, that indicate potential fraud.
Despite what the Wisconsin media echo-chamber proclaims, we will see more controversial partisan politics -- much more -- republicans will seize their latest job failure and use it to justify even more divisive economic havoc.
In today's bizarro upside-down world, when Gov. Scott Walker's agenda fails, we're told that Walker and republican policies have no responsibility for their outcomes. Curiously, these same people are the first to scream about "personal responsibility" when it suits their political agenda.
And with the media's help, Walker and Wisconsin GOP will spin the latest disappointing job numbers to mean that more austerity and controversy is necessary, even more extreme policies than what created their economic failure in the first place.
Walker, as usual, misleads. In this case, "pre-releasing" Wisconsin census jobs data each quarter, deflecting and misdirecting from the national release. Walker's spin claims that Wisconsin gained 35,381 private-sector jobs in the 12 months through June 2012 which gets aggregated with last year's data and is misrepresents as being "almost 100,000 jobs!"
That's a whopper of a lie -- pants on fire.
In fact, the total jobs created under Walker's policies is usually greatly overstated because the data includes job creation under former Gov. Jim Doyle. Walker didn't create anywhere near 100,000 jobs, has created no more than about 1/3 of that and most likely considerably less. All acknowledge he is failing to create jobs, jobs, jobs.
When Walker's administration usurps the federal release of jobs data, they hide comparisons with other states. It doesn't suit Walker's propaganda purposes to pre-release how the State of Wisconsin compares to the rest of the nation. It compares poorly -- right now, 42nd out of 50.
The next session of the legislature will begin with proclamations that "mining" is the answer to their failed policies. With the help of Wisconsin's media echo-chamber, we will now hear even more false dichotomies centered around the "jobs or environment" lie.
And if pollution and heavy metals make people sick or contribute to their untimely deaths? That's just the price Walker and his media allies say we need to pay; because, well, you know, its either jobs or the environment.
Walker seizes every piece of data that demonstrates he is failing and will not achieve his campaign promise of "jobs jobs jobs" -- 250,000 jobs to be precise. Walker blames union thugs. Walker blames out-of-state interests. When all else fails, Walker blames "uncertainty".
And then, with the media's help, Walker uses mental gyrations that would make gymnasts proud to justify more "divide and conquer" economic assaults on workers.
Walker's Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation loses nearly $20 million in one year. Employees use credit cards without authorization. Accounting entries appear to be made up. Walker's administration violates federal and state statutes, rules, and laws giving out community block grants.
No problem! Lee Enterprises/Wisconsin State Journal and the rest of the media echo-chamber proclaim its unfair and unproductive to talk about!
Every failure is a reason for Walker to extract more from small businesses and workers, further undermining Wisconsin's economy -- further empowering Walker to proclaim the need for MORE divisive policies -- maybe even "right to work" if the economy really goes down the toilet. And they are working on that...
Scott Walker told his out-of-state multinational corporate interests, the billionaires he works for, what he wants to do -- give them more money and create more economic stress in Wisconsin.
These are the same folks that underwrite his criminal defense fund and he's going to need lots of thos funds. The ongoing John Doe investigation into the criminality behind his ascent to power is far from over.
If Walker gets indicted, this will mean even MORE divide and conquer politics! Distracting, calling for "unity", and proclaiming we need to move "forward" may be the only way Scott Walker can keep the citizens with pitchforks at bay, not to mention law enforcement!
And Wisconsin's media echo-chamber will do whatever it can to prop him up.

There is no skills gap. There's a pay gap and an idea that taxpayers owe the "Job Creators" money to train their employees. Now WDEC may get control over Dept of Workforce Development money? How is it even possible that the mess that is WDEC can even suggest such a thing and not get laughed out of Wisconsin. Since Scott Walker pays off his cronies and donators with money that should be going elsewhere. When the hell is Scott Walker going to be indicted so we can start getting our beloved state back?
I know your question about "how is it even possible..." is rhetorical, but that answer is that WEDC is a candy story that is accountable to no one -- DWD is incapable of providing services anyhow -- please don't expect many people to make a fuss when money is moved from one dysfunctional agency to another.
I would prefer to see government WORK and that organizations with public funding were accountable to the people, not corporate interests.
Bad government administration may not have created the Koch brother's radical extremist crony capitalism agenda, but it is why anything is possible.
No one is going to be able to point to successes at DWD and under Scott Walker, DWD isn't going to improve, so I have no doubt that massive amounts of money will be transferred from DWD to WEDC.
The end result will be the same -- Wisconsin unemployed and underemployed workers get screwed.
All of this is paving the way to massively defund education and turn over the money to private or quasi-public agencies. There is a much bigger plan at work and dysfunctional government made it all possible.
