Mining Bill Is About Catapulting Walker's "Divide and Conquer" Across America

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's "rock star" status was created via a complicit media.  On his own, Walker is just another dishonest self-promoting politician.  While Walker's stated goal is to "divide and conquer" Wisconsin, flip it "red" and turn it into a right-to-work state; he would not be able to do this without the help of a media echo-chamber that picks-up and then endlessly repeats Walker's talking points across the state.

The mining bill, despite propaganda disseminated by Lee Enterprises, Journal Communications, Gannett, and Clear Channel, is entirely divisive and anything-but moderate.  It will not succeed in streamlining the process -- it will create more delays, but this is by design.

Walker is setting himself up so that the national media can promote him as the "Harley-riding" "Washington-outsider" that is "brave" enough to take on the federal government and, by implication, President Barack Obama.

Sound familiar?  It's essentially the George WALKER Bush playbook from Scott WALKER's cousin.

Each "divide and conquer" Walker launches that undermines Wisconsin's economy and job-growth serves a purpose -- justifying more divisive and extreme legislationScott Walker is an economic terrorist -- precisely the "divide and conquer" strategy Scott Walker outlined to his largest in-state donor, a billionaire that pays no income tax.

The mining bill this year IS the same radical anti-environment divisive legislation from last year -- but the media doesn't want you to know this.  The state of Wisconsin cannot "streamline" the approval of mining projects like this.  Federally protected wetlands will be adversely impacted as will the great lakes basin -- waterways protected by compacts and international treaties.  Proposed mining operations also harm and undermine rights and territories of sovereign Native American Nations.

Scott Walker and his republican cohorts were warned in 2011 that the State of Wisconsin does not have the right to arbitrary usurp environmental rules, regulations, laws, and federal and international treaties.  Native American Nations have just, legitimate, and legal jurisdictions as well.

The State of Wisconsin cannot pass laws undermining the rights and responsibilities of others with an interest in preventing environmentally damaging mining.

In September of 2012, Rebecca Graser of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers again explained why Wisconsin could not streamline the Federal approval process and, because Walker seeks to change Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource's approval timeline, it would no longer be possible to coordinate state assessments of environmental impact with federal reviews -- this will be a costly mistake and will actually INCREASE the time it would take for mining permits to be issued (video).

Wisconsin's Penokee Mountains are “unmineable.”  Tribal Chairman Mike Wiggins Jr. explains:
This mountain has sulfide minerals in it.  When exposed to air and water, sulfide minerals turn into sulfuric acid.  Estimates from geologists indicate millions of gallons of sulfuric acid creation over the life of the mining project.  The sulfide minerals that are in this body (pointing to Penokee Mountains on map) are essentially sealed and capped.  Open pit mining will not only expose those dangerous minerals…but everything around the iron ore will be crushed to talcum powder will exponentially increase the sulferic acid producing surface area that will interact with air and water.
Gov. Scott Walker's policies have destroyed Wisconsin's job growth potential until past the end of Walker's first term -- knowledgeable  sources project Wisconsin as having the second-worse job-growth potential and among the worst economies in America until 2016.

Scott Walker is trying to exploit this for political gain.  Scott Walker is lying about the number of jobs a northern Wisconsin mine would create -- misrepresenting it as directly creating "thousands".   It will only create a few hundred and then only for the years the mine operates -- perhaps not many years at all.

And now, because Walker and his republican cohorts are overstepping their legal authority to speed-up mining approval, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is again warning that the mining approval process could take years -- a longer timeline and higher costs because Walker is advocating that Wisconsin disregard federal rules, regulations and laws -- but this is by design.

Walker, who has destroyed Wisconsin's economy for the near future, needs distractions and diversions.  Walker wants to create an endless circle of blame for his administrations shortcomings.  Walker needs to implement the divisive economic agenda of his out-of-state multinational corporate billionaires -- the people that pony up cash for Walker's criminal defense fund.

Scott Walker needs to create a dysfunctional economic mess that, with help from Wisconsin's media echo-chamber, will be blamed on the federal government.

Walker is positioning himself to be the anti-Obama "go-to" guy as the 2016 election cycle nears.  Walker needs to continue to manufacture an in-state crisis to avoid public accountability for the criminality behind his ascent to powerWalker needs the media to help disseminate this propaganda too.  The media consistently comply.

Walker has been fraudulently and shamelessly promoted by the media all along -- Walker needs to find a way to get out of the Badger State before the massive "divide and conquer" strategies he is using to implement the Koch brother's ALEC agenda becomes too apparent for even the media shills that prop him up to ignore.

Walker's ticket out-of-Wisconsin will be to create a massive failure in the Badger State and, before things really crash and burn, blame his mess on national politics and politicians -- democrats and President Barack Obama.
